Second work
party photos - Feb. 18, 2006
Once
again we started on a cold morning with Ty cutting angle iron,
Richard using the plasma cutter, Blaster and Hotfoot on the
welders, and Mr. God directing. As people arrived, they were put
to work until there were way more people than jobs. The goal was
to get all three armatures completed and get one fire tower
skinned with sheet metal. We exceeded our goal and got the skin
on parts of the other two towers.

Blaster cuts sheet
metal with the plasma cutter.

Blaster and Hotfoot
position sheet metal on a section of tower.

This
party saw a fine big group of people coming to help. We had
probably a dozen people for the work and a couple of dozen for
the party. TC taught Suzanne how to weld. Blaster brought a
couple of propane cannons, Blaze spun fire, we had a burn barrel
and the spinning fire sphere going. Jerry brought some great
shrimp soup. Hotfoot cooked ribs and hotdogs on the barbecue,
and Gary mixed up a big jug of margaritas. We had a couple of
people from a college in Phoenix start filming a student
documentary on the creation of the fire temple. They joined in
the work and the party and will come back for the next one. Big
thanks to everyone who helped make this event productive and a
lot of fun!
The
next work/party is Saturday, March 18th. The goal for this
party is to complete the skinning of all three fire towers and
begin detail work and decoration. We should be able to do a test
set-up of the whole thing by the end of the day.
