Drum circles were everywhere
providing a rhythmic background at art installations,
theme camps, and for ceremonies. The drummers at right are
in the Center Camp surrounded by dancers enjoying the
show.
Long-time burner camp, New
Havoc, specializes in drumming and fire art. Dozens of
drums of all sizes were set up and some drum jams (below)
went literally all night stopping only as the sun was
rising.

The biggest
drum on the playa. New Havoc's giant drum buffets and
vibrates Linda (at left) with the force of its beat.

More drummers provide the beat
for dancers inside this fire sculpture. We spent several
evenings dancing around and within this fire.
The strange spottiness in
the dark areas of the photo is because this was all going
on in a dust storm. The flash on the camera picked up the
dust.
