The festival culminates with the burning of the Man on Saturday night. The Man serves as the ritual center of the community and shines with neon all the other nights. On this night the Man ignited himself early. When his arms were raised, the neon shorted out in one of the arms setting off fireworks. There was supposed to have been about 45 minutes of fire performers before the burn but the Man had other ideas, I guess.

In spite of the unexpectedly cold and windy weather during the last four days of the event, we had a wonderful time again at Burning Man. We plan to be there again in 2001 with our Temple of Virtual Wisdom and maybe some art projects also.
