The Man

The center-piece
for the event was The Man, a fifty foot tall effigy made of wood and neon.
It
was set up on a Mayan-style pyramid made of straw bales. It served as a
reference point and focal point. Surrounding it were four huge spheres made of
scrap lumber. These spheres were set on wooden tripods.
Around this was a 500 ft. diameter circle set with 2000 lights that were controlled by a computer to create interesting effects.
Each night the man glowed with neon until the last night (Saturday) when he was filled with fireworks and ignited. All the people of the city gathered around to watch the spectacle. The party went on until sunrise with techno-rave music pounding from the tent-nightclubs and flames rising to the sky from dozens of burning art installations.
