The engine on
the CadWac died on our way to Burning Man in August of 2006.
It threw a rod about 20 miles north of Tonopah, Nevada.
After Burning Man we towed it 500 miles back to Prescott. In
December, Gary came up from Tucson and, with the help of
Blaze and Ty, we pulled the engine to check out the damage.
Here, Gary and Blaze hook the hoist chain onto the engine. |

With everything
disconnected from the engine, we pulled it out and then put
it on an engine stand for dissection. We discovered that the
engine block seems to be in pretty good shape so we don't
have to get a new block. A piston rod broke and pieces of
something shot through the bottom of the oil pan. It appears
that the engine is rebuild-able. Thanks Ty, Blaze, and Gary
for helping get the engine out. |
