September
10, 2007 - We are back from Burning Man. Amphibia
was a big hit. Our assembly and disassembly went
smoothly. We had some great events. We are working on
creating a web page to consolidate photos by Amphibia's
campers. As soon as this is done, the link will be
posted here. |
August
12, 2007 - At our final major work party on August
11th, we got all of the structure painted. Wait until
you see the tower!
All the canopy pieces are finished and grommeted. 90% of
the decorations are done. We have picked up nearly
1000-watts of photovoltaic panels and the first trailer
is already loaded and ready to go!
See some pictures of the latest
activities.
We are very happy to announce that the Amphibia project
will be completed on time and pretty close to being on
budget. Thanks to everyone who has helped with donations
of their time, materials and money. |
|
August 5,
2007 - We had a successful and fun FUNdraiser in
Prescott last night. It was a salsa competition, both
the dance and the condiment. We raised another $500 to
help build Amphibia.
Buy Amphibia
shirts and stickers! We have cool shirts
and stickers with frogs, and the Earth Pledge, and the
Amphibia structure drawings. Check it out! |
|
July 29,
2007 - We now have our approximate address at
Burning Man - Esplanade and 6:30. The Amphibia
structure is done all except for paint. The canopy is
being sewn. Decorations are being made. We leave in less
than four weeks! |
June 24,
2007 - Our work party on June 23rd was especially
productive. We had two locations this time.
At Cosmic Steel, we welded mounting brackets for the upper deck sub-floor.
After checking and reinforcing all the welds in the
upper tower trusses and the roof trusses, we assembled
the tower that goes above the dome so we can work on the
upper deck. Everything went smoothly.
At the same time, in our backyard, we had five sewing
machines set up to sew the main tent canopy. Our little
Amphibia sweat shop churned out all 15 of the triangular
fabric pie pieces in about six hours. Thanks to Rick and
Lynn for not only donating 500 yards of ripstop nylon,
but also have it professionally stack-cut so it was
ready for us to sew.
Then the Cosmic Steel crew relocated to the backyard for
dinner and a party. There was about 20 people in
attendance. What a great time! What a great crew!
See a few pictures on our
Photo Gallery page,
(the last 3 photos are from the June work party.)
There will
only be two more major work parties before we leave for
Burning Man - July 14, and August 11. Go to the
events
page for more info. |

May 24,
2007 - Two new resources are now available on the
Amphibia website - Information on
Leave No Trace (LNT) camping,
and a
Personal Equipment List
that should be a helpful guide to packing for the playa. |
|
May 20,
2007 - We had a successful work party at Cosmic
Steel. We built the framing for the upper observation
deck and sewed a lot of big, fake leaves for decorations
inside of Amphibia. The next work party will be June 23,
2007 at Cosmic Steel.
See photos of all of our work
parties. |
|
May 8,
3007 - The test set up of the dome portion of
Amphibia at Toast was successful. We learned a lot about
how to put it together and how we can improve its
assembly next time. We were pleased to discover that it
took less than 2 hours to take the structure down and
put it back into the trailer. Thanks to everyone for
helping with the assembly/disassembly.

April 29,
2007 - Amphibia website updated to be more user
friendly and to contain more information.
The dome portion of the structure is complete and loaded
on its trailer for transport to Toast next week.
The next work party will be May 19, where we will begin
sewing the canopy and making decorations for the big
tent.
See our tentative
Camp Plan, as
submitted to Burning Man in our theme camp application. |
April 15,
2007 - Our April 14th work party was a lot of fun
and we finished all of the large pieces for the Amphibia
structure.
See pictures. The
fabric has been purchased for the canopy and a large
cargo parachute has been acquired as a backup canopy. We
need only three more couches for Amphibia furniture.
. |
April 7,
2007 - Our March 31 work party was a great success.
Our next work party will be April 14 at Cosmic Steel.
See pictures. We
will finish enough of the Amphibia structure to be able
to use it as the Center Camp for
TOAST, Arizona's
regional burn.
Mr.God is currently filling out the paperwork to be
registered as a theme camp at Burning Man this year. We
are requesting Esplanade placement. |
|
March 4,
2007 - Mr. God will be heading out to camp in the
desert from March 8 until March 28. He will be working
on the Amphibia structure and escaping his allergies.
You can visit him at his desert camp near Salton Sea,
CA. |
February
20, 2007 - We just finished our second work party
and got more done than I thought we could. We also had a
lot of fun.
See pictures of the
second work party.
The next one will be March 31 |
|
February
1, 2007 - Our January work party was good. We got
everything done that we hoped to accomplish. See
pictures
here. The next work
party will be February 17rh at Cosmic Steel in Prescott,
AZ. |
January, 2007 - We
have accumulated about half the carpeting needed. The
wish list
was updated to include audio, video, lighting, and power
generation equipment.
The steel tent structure fabrication will begin this
month. |
|
November, 2006 - The website is set up to accept
donations
and a
wish
list is created. |
October 2006 - The
planetamphibia.com web
site is created. Plans for Amphibia are announced for the first
time at the Arizona Burning Man decompression party.
Mrs. God changes her name to Aunt Phibbia. |
September, 2006 - Burning Man announces the theme
for 2007 -
The Green Man. It's
about humanity's relationship with the environment.
Mr. God gets inspired to create Amphibia in
alignment with this theme and with Mrs. God's plans to
write a children's book about taking better care of the
Earth.
Drawings of a 65' diameter
shade structure
with a central
observation
tower are created by Mr. God. |

Sirius is one of the closest stars to Earth,
being about 8.3 light years away. It is one
of the brightest stars in Earth’s sky. It
has been nicknamed the Dog Star because it
is in the constellation Canis Major. There
is a second, much smaller, star in the
Sirius system known as Sirius B. Sirius B is
known as the Frog Star because it is planet
Amphibia’s sun.
Five thousand years ago, visitors from
Amphibia came to Earth for the first time in
three- legged space ships called Nommo. They
landed in Africa and made friends with the
frogs, toads, salamanders and reptiles
there. They also met humans for the first
time, specifically the Dogon tribe of West
Africa. Everyone had a wonderful, happy
time. The Earth was nice and clean then.
There was almost no pollution in the water
or the air.
About forty or fifty years ago the frogs on
Earth started to die because of increasing
pollution caused by humans. They sent out a
cry for help to their space brothers and
sisters on Amphibia. The inhabitants of
Amphibia received the message and
immediately began preparing to send Infinity
Frog to Earth to help save the frogs.
The Amphibia
space ship is on its way from the Frog Star
now and is very close to Earth. The new
spaceship is a living, jellyfish-like being
who is honored to transport Infinity Frog
and his friends on their mission to teach
the humans better ways to live – ways that
will keep the water and air clean for frogs
and all the other plants and animals that
live on Earth |
