This
structure is a 3000 square foot tent with a 32-foot tall
tower in the center. The steel structure is 53 feet in
diameter. It weighs only about 3000 lbs. and is made
from new and recycled steel.
The
photo at left is a close-up of a large sculptural portal
used as the main entrance for the Center Camp at the Burning
Man Festival in 2001. The structure was 28 feet wide
by 17 feet tall. It was made from square tubing and
skeleton plates and was transported in pieces to the
site in Nevada and assembled there. Below is a picture
of the whole thing.
