Kumbha Mela 2001 Photo Gallery - Page 42
More photos from Maha Shivratri on Feb. 21, 2001.

An image of Shiva facing a linga and a two rupee coin. Shiv shrines today usually contain berries, chick pea stalks and datura bulbs.

Constructing a Shiv (Shiva is also referred to as Shiv, Shankar or Mahadev in India ) made of flesh and blood…..and some sand.

Splashing about all over the place. The atmosphere here is the most relaxed I’ve seen so far. Perhaps it’s the weather, or the last official day of this Kumbh, or the extra space and fewer people, or perhaps it’s Shiv radiating the energy of joy. Whatever it is, it is very different from Mauni Amavasya.
