Kumbha Mela 2001 Photo Gallery - Page 18

More photos taken  January 24, 2001, Mauni Amavasya, the most auspicious bathing day with the largest gathering of people ever assembled in one place for one purpose.

Having a snan together on this amazing day is an experience that can be shared forever.

Three-photograph composite image looking towards the confluence. The Sun was up high and it felt like a summer day. At least twenty million pilgrims had their dip today, using all of the available ghats around.
Click Here to see a ten-photograph composite 360 degree image from the Sangam at exactly 12 noon on Mauni Amavasya. The police were severely restricting pilgrims from heading to this spot. Ghats all over Kumbhnagar were chock-a-block with people. (Be patient. It may take a while for this image to load.)
